NRWA 2021 Rural Water Rally Update
Duncan, OKLAHOMA – The Rural Water Rally in-person event scheduled for February 8-10, 2021 has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 health crisis and the uncertainty of scheduling face-to-face meetings with congressional representatives. The NRWA Executive Committee made this decision during their meeting held on December 5, 2020 in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
In lieu of the in-person event, NRWA is planning to hold a virtual event the week of February 8-12, 2021 including an opening session and the annual Great American Water Taste Test. The opening session will be available by registration only and a small fee. The GAWTT will be free to view and more information will be sent to the State Associations in the coming weeks.
NRWA will be preparing a checklist for each State Association to use when scheduling meetings during the week of the Rural Water Rally. NRWA will be collecting meeting information to highlight states as they virtually meet with congressional representatives and staff members during the week. The checklist will be provided after January 1st.
The Rural Water Rally is a fly-in held annually in Washington, D.C. to bring utility system representatives on Capitol Hill to support funding programs, training and technical assistance. State Rural Water Associations schedule meetings with Representatives, Senators and their staff, so that they can share the Rural Water success story, answer questions and build important relationships.
