National Rural Water's Conference Challenges Industry with Cutting Edge "Hot Tracks" 

As National Rural Water Association hosts “The Industry Event” in Dallas, Texas - September 24-27; there will be a dedicated focus on industry needs through the “Hot Tracks” seminars. 

The first specialty track focuses on “In the Trench Emergency Response.”  Topics covered include:  The Psychology of Customers in Disaster featuring presentations by the American Red Cross; Emergency Response Planning A-Z conducted by State Association Executive Directors from Florida, Louisiana, Tennessee and Texas; When Communications Fail; Rebuilding with Limited Resources brought to you by the USDA; Who’s in Charge – Local, State or Federal?; FEMA From a Utility’s Perspective; State Rural Water Associations – An Instant Resource; and Dealing with the Press in an Emergency.   

This in-depth focus into Emergency Response will help water and wastewater utilities prepare and unite for future disasters.  By networking with each other and their state rural water associations, utilities can prepare for disasters and learn from those that have already been there. 

The second track deals with “Ultimate Workforce Transitioning” featuring current retirement information to preparing for the incoming Generation X.  This series kicks off with a presentation from Express Personnel Services on Workforce in Transition, then it moves to Benefits Packages for Recruitment and Retention, Sources for Recruiting Employees, Transitioning Your Board, Doing More with Less, Board Decisions and Legal Considerations, Social Security Planning conducted by Social Security, Finances – The Board – Legal Considerations, Medicare Planning, Where Are My Investments Leading Me conducted by Charles Schwab, Audits – The Board – The Management – Legal Responsibilities, and finally, Staying Involved with Rural Water. 

NRWA’s “The Industry Event” is held every fall usually in September or October.  It draws crowds from across the Nation and even foreign visitors from places like Australia and New Zealand.
