Tice Receives National Rural Water Association’s Ground Water Peer Leadership Award!

Tim Tice, Ground Water Specialist for the Oregon Association of Water Utilities, received highest honors from his peers when he was named the 2006 Ground Water Specialist of the Year.  Peer Leadership Awards were presented at NRWA’s 20th Annual In-Service Training Seminar held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The NRWA Peer Leadership Awards program was established to recognize the outstanding efforts of Rural Water Association representatives. Of all the Ground Water Specialist across the Nation, Tice was selected as this year’s winner for his dedication and service to ensuring safe water supplies for future generations.

The NRWA Ground Water Program started in 1991.  Since then more than 4500 local communities with populations totaling over 6 million people have taken responsibility for protecting their drinking water sources.

Tice began his career with OAWU in 2000 as the Solid Waste Circuit Rider. He excelled in this position, which also included conducting an average of fifty hours annually of various training for operators. In 2003, he transferred to the Groundwater Technician position where he became the lead field technician. He has oversight of source/groundwater and solid waste positions. Works very well with the Association team, is well liked and respected by the staff and systems he works with daily.

Tim Tice, the opTIMist; is an extremely hard worker, trustworthy, cares about the people he works and has a great sense of humor. A family man involved in community and church, he is a team player, who OAWU values very much. He is also a “can do” person.

Tice has a fifteen-year background of hazardous waste management, transportation and disposal services. He is experienced and knowledgeable in all facets of hazardous waste disposal and handling, including the ability to instruct in these areas.

The National Rural Water Association is a federation of 48 State Rural Water Associations serving over 24,558 water and wastewater utility members in 49 states with additional programs in Honduras and Puerto Rico.

NRWA members form a solid foundation for Team Rural Water.  Upholding the motto of “Quality On Tap!” Rural Water Associations provide small communities in every state with management and technical resources to supply safe and affordable water.
