    • National Rural Water Association (NRWA).  Titled Rural Water Mutual Aid Agreement and A State Wide Water and Wastewater Utility Emergency Support Network, the guide shows how state rural water associations and their member utilities can become first responders and tie into first-responder networks in the event of a disaster. The guide is an outgrowth of hearings conducted in recent months by the NRWA's Emergency Response Committee in the wake of the 2005 hurricanes that devastated Florida and the Gulf Coast.  Among other recommendations, the guide urges state rural water associations to join their respective state emergency management agencies, become first responders, develop emergency communications and standby power systems, and enter mutual aid agreements. -more

      Judges Determine Best City Bottled Water, Taste tests to determine who has the best drinking water have concluded in Washington. It might look like a wine tasting, but these judges are checking out tap water from rural communities around the country. It's all part of the Great American Water Taste Test held annually by the National Rural Water Association.
